I suppose the first place to make for must be that massive monument to an obsessed man, the Segrada Familia. I expect almost everyone has seen pictures of the impressive fluted spires, which you first set eyes on from street on the south side of this landmark.
Gaudi must have been on some pretty strong stuff when he was designing this work of art, which of course is supposed to be a cathedral. The picture above could well be of star fish or rock formations in the depths of the earth. Not sure, but the oval gem stones are in fact lights.
Maybe he had crystals, or fossilized trees in mind and then again, maybe not.
These could well be ice formations a Himalayan glacier crevasse, and from this angle very difficult to make out what you are really looking at. What a fun place.
Not sure that this came out of Gaudi's wild imagination but it does make a roof look like ripples in water or a sun set in the Sahara.
Here is probably the only picture that even slightly resembles part of a cathedral. This older north side of Sagrada Familia has all the character of a more traditional piece of architecture but as with all of the aspects of the cathedral, it is still something completely different.
